Our Philosophy

El Cajon has always
demanded honesty.

This block has seen barbershops come and go since the strip was first paved. The ones that lasted were never fancy — they were consistent. We built Scissors & Razors on that same principle: no theatre, no upselling, just the work done right every single time someone sits down.

The razor gets stropped. The scissors get sharpened. The skin gets read before anything gets put on it. Every barber here has trained long enough to know that a 15-minute cut that fits the head is worth more than a 45-minute cut that impresses the mirror.

Skin care is not an add-on at this shop. It sits beside the cut as an equal service — because the face that leaves here should look as considered as the hair that frames it.

Located on El Cajon Blvd in the heart of San Diego's East Side, we serve a neighborhood that values craft over novelty. Our barbers bring combined decades behind the chair — and an understanding that a great haircut is mostly geometry, patience, and the willingness to listen before you lift the comb.

We are open every day of the week, 10 AM to 7 PM. Walk-ins are always welcome. Appointments are respected to the minute.

Full cut, comb and scissor work, finished with a straight-edge neck clean. The standard every other service is measured against.

Skin-to-length gradient work executed with clippers and a steady hand. Low, mid, and high fades shaped to the skull and the bone structure.

Hot towel, pre-shave oil, a stropped blade, and a cold finish. The kind of shave that makes an electric razor feel like a rumor.

18 years behind the chair, the last nine on El Cajon. Trained in Los Angeles and certified in razor work. Marco sets the standard for every cut that leaves this shop.

A licensed barber and licensed esthetician, Diana runs the skin program at Scissors & Razors. She brought the facial menu and the philosophy that the face and the hair need to be considered together.

Seven years in, Reuben is the shop's fade specialist. His skin fades attract regulars from as far as Chula Vista. He was cutting hair in his father's garage on 49th before he ever picked up a license.
